Marco Porcio Cato Uticense (95 BC - 12 April 46 BC, also called Minor to distinguish him from his ancestor Marco Porcio Catone said therefore Maior), politician, military, writer and Roman monetary magistrate, opponent of Julius Caesar, refugees in Utica, takes off life disemboweling after having spent the last hours in deliberate tranquility, having dinner and talking with his friends, in the reading of the Phaedo of Plato. At the attempts of his loved ones to succor him, he replies, raging against his own body, until death arrives.
